Before I start writing about this weeks NFL games and Panini
stickers I want to congratulate everyone who entered the “early adopters” phase
of our 2012 Panini America NFL Player of the Day promotion, getting bonus
entries for prizes and a chance to win some Panini exclusive cards and an
autograph from this year’s National in Baltimore. Not sure what I am talking about? Well use this link and read the ENTIRE post to find
out.
In the past I have formatted these posts that accompanied the week
in Panini NFL stickers with players to watch. I will be returning to that format next week, tying it in with an All About Cards mini version
of Fantasy Football, giving you a chance to play along and earn additional entries in the NFL POD promotion. But this week is going to be a little more personal. I’m going to talk about my team, the New York Jets.
of Fantasy Football, giving you a chance to play along and earn additional entries in the NFL POD promotion. But this week is going to be a little more personal. I’m going to talk about my team, the New York Jets.
Why am I doing this?
I’m doing this because for the first year in a long time that I am
completely, devastatingly apprehensive about the team. I figure it could be an incredible,
sometimes unbelievable season or it could be a dramatic football fail. There doesn’t seem to be much middle
ground this year. So while hope is
still in the air, I’m going to concentrate on my team. I can do that because... well... it’s
my blog.
Here are this week’s featured stickers.
Curtis Martin, Mark Sanchez, Tim Tebow
I’m starting with recent Hall of Fame inductee Curtis Martin
because I’m one of those “good news first” kind of guys. Martin will honored by the Jets today
by retiring his Jersey Number, 28, at MetLife Stadium as they open their 2012
regular season against the Buffalo Bills.
I will be wearing my Martin Jets jersey for the occasion. That is the definitely good news. Now let’s deal with the “could be good
news, could be bad” news.
Sanchez and Tebow, two quarterbacks, two different offenses,
one hot mess. As if we haven't had enough problems with the Quarterback position since Joe Namath led the team, we now have to deal with a duo of QBs. I have been vocally
critical about Sanchez even though he is from my alma mater and the leader of
my favorite team. For the past few
years I have looked at the Jets roster and felt Sanchez is the weakest
link. As for Tebow, I was a fan of
his during his Denver days. I was
in Miami last October when he pulled of an incredible win. But now that he is with the Jets, it
somehow doesn’t feel right. Add
Tony Sparano to the mix and my stomach starts turning just thinking about
it. So this will either be one of
the most brilliant moves in NFL history as the Jets become an unstoppable
two-headed monster or I will be forced to attempt the dreaded double face palm
throughout the season.
