Did The Trade Happy Rams Give It All Away In The 2012 NFL Draft?

Draft day trades are always interesting.  Teams try to improve their position, maneuvering their way higher in the draft so they can snag the next superstar.  But in 2012, the St. Louis Rams seem to have been a little trade happy, giving away the number 2 pick overall and a lot more.  With RG3 a candidate for rookie of the year, the question is did the Rams give away too much?

Here are the details of all the trades the Rams conducted involving the 2012 draft starting with the biggest trade.

St. Louis traded their first round selection in 2012 (2nd overall) to Washington for the Redskins' first round selections in 2012 (6th overall), 2013, 2014 and second round selection in 2012 (39th overall.)

St. Louis then traded the first round selection they acquired from Washington (6th overall) to Dallas for the Cowboys’ first round (14th overall) and second round (45th overall) 2012 selections.

Then the Rams took the second round selection (45th overall) they obtained from the Cowboys and traded it to the Bears for Chicago’s second round (50th overall) and fifth round (150th overall) selections.

As a side note, the Rams also had to give their 5th round (137th overall) selection to Denver as part of the Rams 2011 trade with the Broncos to acquire Brandon Lloyd.  Lloyd played for the Rams in 2011.  He became a free agent in 2012 and signed with the New England Patriots.
