2014 Topps Finest Baseball Cards Box Break Recap And Review

What a difference a year makes.  Topps played with the Finest formula last year and got some things right. Unfotunately what they got wrong was the card design. This year all of those added elements remain and 2014 Topps Finest Baseball comes on strong with a sharp looking design.

While Finest Baseball falls under our classification of premium cards, there is enough here to keep set builders interested so there is some cross over into our trading cards category.  Hobby exclusive master boxes contain 2 mini boxes, with each mini containing 6 - 5 card packs.  Each master box contains 2 On-Card Autographs.

Here are some of the cards we pulled.

Base Set

 Derek Jeter, front and back
Yasiel Puig, George Springer, Miguel Cabrera

Refractors
Jay Bruce, Troy Tulowitzki
 Ryan Braun Xfractor

Inserts
Robinson Cano Finest Sterling, front and back

Troy Tulowitzki Finest Reprint, front and back

Autographs
 Christian Bethancourt

 Rookie Auto Redemption #1
***Announced - Sandy Koufax 1955 reprint auto!****

Overall Look
These cards look better in hand than any scan can do justice. This smart look holds up through all permutations of refractors. Inserts look good too and the Autograph layout works well.

Quality and Variety of Players
Checklist configuration remains the same at 100 base cards, which makes sense for this product.  All of the hot rookies are present.

Do the Hits satisfy?
This year’s Finest is a little more hit and miss mainly because of the smaller number of desirable rookies, but every player you would want is here.  Add smart design for those autos and your got hits that satisfy.

Will you keep coming back for more?
There is certainly enough good to chase to make Finest a repeat purchase.

Rating
4 1/2 out of 5

2014 Topps Finest Baseball Cards provides a good chance to pull some nice hits with common cards and color parallel refractors that shine in more ways than one.
