2014 Topps Stadium Club Baseball Box Break Recap and Review

Besides the larger releases of Five Star and Dynasty, 2014 Topps Stadium Club was one of the last Baseball products to be offered by Topps to collectors. It revives a brand previously know for it photography. Stadium Club was also know for it's tough Lone Star Autographs.  All of this returns to a product that tries to find its way into an already busy marketplace with cards that would make set builders very happy, but also comes with a price tag to accommodate the 3 autographs included, all on- card.

Stadium Club falls under our premium cards category with each master box containing 3 mini boxes. Each mini box contains 6 packs with 5 cards per pack and one on-card autograph card.

Overall Look

Short of the overly stylized look of Gypsy Queen and others like it, these are some of the best looking cards by far. Stunning photography with a variety of looks, bold design and great backs make this a dream set for set builders. All on-card autograph hits are great too.

Quality and Variety of Players?

This certainly carries some of the best names in the game, at least when it comes to base cards and hits. There seems to be a majority of players who signed that would be considered 'hope for a brighter future" type autographs but a few names stand out for base autos and the Lone Star autos and buyback autos push it over the top.

Do the Hits Satisfy?

The right ones, of course. Who is going to complain about hitting a Kershaw like we did, but all one had to do is look at the numbering to see this is not going to happen for most. Then it comes down to price vs. the 3 players you wind up with as your autos. At full suggested retail price, satisfaction will be hit and miss.

Will you keep coming back for more?

Probably as the price drops, collectors will return to this set. for now, at full price, some might shy away after a box or two.

2014 Topps Stadium Club would be a clear 5 star winner if the price point were a little more reflective of the quality of most of the autograph subjects. Clearly the Kershaw Lone Star pushes us into the lucky category, your results may vary.
